Tasting Note

A lovely, mature Moulis with blackcurrant fruit and a long, elegant finish.

Producer

Chateau Mauvesin is one of the leading properties in the Moulis and traces its roots back to 1457. In 2011 it was purchased by Lillian Barton Sartorius to join the existing family Chateau of Leoville and Langoa Barton.

Lillian's children Damien and Melanie are now gradually taking over the day to day running of the estates from their mother. Since the Bartons bought the estate in 2011, they have undertaken a complete reconstruction of the vineyards and cellar, and the wines seem to get more and more precise with each vintage. 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot are planted across 40ha on gravelly soils.

The Moulis en Medoc appellation sits between Margaux and Saint Julien and has a long respected terroir, although slightly under the radar today making the region a source of high quality, superb value, Bordeaux.

Country: France | Region: Moulis en Medoc, Bordeaux | Alcohol: 13% | Grapes: Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc |
