Veneto
Prosecco, Valpolicella, Amarone, Pinot Grigio, Soave... thats what you get in the Veneto! The star is really the Valpolicella family, starting with the fresher, every day drinking Valpolicella, then moving to the richer Ripasso, the intense, dark, fine wine that is Amarone and then up to the sweet Ripasso - the progression of style is never more apparent than here.
For whites, Pinot Grigio is the famous one, but you need to look at Soave. Made from the Garganega grape they have fabulous ageing potential. We've also put in the brilliant region of Lugana here - a sliver of land between Lake Garda and Lombardy, this wine made from Turbiana, is a rare and delicious white wine that is exceptionally food friendly and will become one of your favourite white wines when you try it!
