Huia Chardonnay 2019 75cl

£19.95 GBP

Tasting Note

A little oak coming off the nose, like a good wine from the Maconnais, tropical fruit flavours, with a nutty vanilla coming though. The palate is round, grows in stature and then has little caresses of oak. Superb!

Producer

Huia Estate began as an idea in 1990 and the vines that current wine is made from were planted in 1996. From the beginning they have had an approach to emphasise environmental sustainability and organics.

The vineyard is located in Marlborough's Rapaura district; a site close to the Wairau River and is very much in the lee of the Richmond Range. The Wairau plains were formed originally by glacial action and the ranges which now define the valley, where the Wairau River flows, lead to a range of soils. As you move further towards the Wither Hills the soild become richer and the proportion of clay within the soild also increases as you approach the slopes of the hills.
