Huia Blanc de Blancs 2017 75cl

£23.75 GBP

Tasting Note

Bright, seashells and limepith, grapefruit skin with a rich tea biscuit thing coming through. A delightful mousse, very gentle and approachable, clean, delicate. A joy.

Producer

Huia Estate began as an idea in 1990 and the vines that current wine is made from were planted in 1996. From the beginning they have had an approach to emphasise environmental sustainability and organics.

The vineyard is located in Marlborough's Rapaura district; a site close to the Wairau River and is very much in the lee of the Richmond Range. The Wairau plains were formed originally by glacial action and the ranges which now define the valley, where the Wairau River flows, lead to a range of soils. As you move further towards the Wither Hills the soild become richer and the proportion of clay within the soild also increases as you approach the slopes of the hills.

The company works under the belief that a natural approach to winemaking produces the best tasting wine and so their focus is to become more and more in tune with the environment within and surrounding the vineyards, working in harmony with it to provide balance and longevity. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2011.
