Founded by Roberto Garrone’s grandfather, who migrated from Monferrato to the Ossola valley in the early 1900s, Cantina Garrone has evolved into a linchpin of the region’s viticultural revival. Roberto, who honed his enological skills in Alba during the 1980s, returned in the early 1990s to rejuvenate the family winery alongside his father.

Together, they began revitalizing ancient Prünent vines and expanded their operations by collaborating with local micro-grape suppliers, akin to running a private cooperative. Today, Roberto and his son Marco manage three hectares of vineyards and source grapes from 80 micro-producers, specializing in the indigenous Prünent grape. Their winery in Crevola-Dossola and the aging cellar in the historic Cà d’ Matè in Oira—once the great-grandfather’s home built in 1598 and renovated in the 1990s— Here, they produce five red wines, primarily Nebbiolo-based, a Merlot-based Tarlàp, and a Chardonnay.
