Nicola Ferrari was formally an assistant to the legendary Valpolicella producer Giuseppe Quintarelli, and now makes wines with his wife from their seven hectares of organically farmed vines in Fumane. We asked him to share his memories of the wines that changed his life...

Wine 1 - Champagne Jean Paul Morel Blanc de Blancs This wine, since Champagne is a wine too, (was the wine) I drank when my father passed away, so it has a specific place in my memory

Wine 2 - 1974 Vietti Barolo This wine has had an influence on me as it showed me how a wine could age and maintain an high standard of quality over time.

Wine 3 - 1998 Quintarelli Alzero  This bottle is fondly remembered because it embodies the quintessence of power and elegance.

Wine 4 - 1999 Nada Fiorenzo Barbaresco This bottle is on the list since it has been the first wine from Piedmont that I had the chance to enjoy.

Wine 5 - 1983 Sassicaia  Stumbled across this bottle thanks to a friend during my birthday, just to learn that cabernet sauvignon has a dignity in Italy too.

If you could share only one of these with three people, real or fictional, living or dead, which would it be, and who would they be?

As per which wine I'd like to enjoy and with whom, I'll go for the champagne and I'll go for it because I'd be drinking with my late beloved father...
