Gusbourne Rose 2018 75cl
Tasting Note: Delicate pink in appearance, with soft summer berries and floral notes on the nose. The palate shows bright red fruits, driven by ripe strawberries, fresh cherries and redcurrants, with a crisp freshness and creamy, rounded texture on the finish.
Producer: Founded by Andrew Weeber in 2004, Gusbourne is based in Kent in a place called Appledore. Oz Clarke refers to it as a "piece of Kent where few people live, few people visit, where the mists linger late into morning and the sodden soil squirts and squelches underneath your boots". Note exactly good growing conditions for vines. However, the sun always shines there, it is warm and where Gusbourne is situated, is full of hard, compacted sandy clay which gives the drought conditions so much needed for sparkling wine. They also use Burgundy clones in their best areas, which are able to stay on the vines to ripen. It all contributes to Gusbourne being one of the best sparkling wine producers in England.
