Chateau La Tour de By 2020 75cl
Tasting Note
A lot of cassis on the nose leading onto a liquorice, cinnamon balls and bramble leaf, all giving it a bigger bolder impression, but then there is a lift from a quince jelly like aroma. The palate is full, firm tannin but very very silky. There are dark, savoury notes, green pepper, loads of pencil lead and bitter chocolate. There is still fruit there, and with time in a decanter, the big dark berries are revealed. This is a superb bottle of wine and strangely drinking well now, but will only improve for the next... oh.... thirty years! Oh crikey... I'll be 75 then...
Producer
This great property is now run by two of the late Marc Pagès’s grandsons, Frédéric Le Clerc (ex Ecole Polytechnique) and Benjamin Richer des Forges. They are very capable. A further 12 hectares of superb land were purchased to add to the 55 hectares. The average age of the vines is well over 40 years. A new impressive temperature controlled storage cellar has also been built.
